When Ruth was celebrating her 80th birthday, she took me "under her wing", so to
speak...

I was a recent widow, so it meant a lot to me to be "accepted" into the Riley clan.

I have enjoyed being a part of Riley family gatherings over the years.

I will always miss Ruth. 

Dear Ruth, she was a wonderful woman and so full of life. Her kindness when my mother passed was greatly appreciated as she called several times just to check up on my well being. I'm going to miss her a lot but I know she's in Heaven now with my mom showing her around. We should all be so fortunate to make it to 92 in good health like Ruth did. May God bless her souls and grant her peace.

My mother Janet, who passed away Wednesday at the age of 98, were fast friends nearly 50 years.  They had much in common: both were women of faith who attended the same church, both were widows with four children (about the same age), both came from strong midwest stock.  Even after my mom moved away to Bakersfield five years ago they still kept in touch.  I was often the middleman in these correspondances as my mom eventually was not able to write back on her own.  What impressed me in Ruth's letters is how much she traveled at her age and how much she loved and supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Now they get to continue their friendship in the next world.

Aunt Ruth will be missed by a lot of family.  I remember many, many years ago having family get togethers at her and Uncle George's house in San Jose and I ran around the front yard chasing my 4 cousins.  We had get togethers up here at a park with my Brother Bill and his family.  Miss all those days!!  And Tim, I remember her sticking her tongue out, I think I was the recipient a few times when I said something she did not like.

What a wonderful lady! I will miss her presence at Holiday Faire workshops. What an amazing craft woman she was! I remember that she often did tiny very detailed counted-cross stitch while watching TV. Impossible!!
